Three galleries for science
exhibition have been established. The first one is in ex situ conservation
center for cycads,which display introduces cycads all over the world
and their evolution.The second one is in shade plants garden, which
display is called "Plant Evolution Show" and was set up in 1998. The
third one is in medicinal plant garden,which displays rare herbs &
traditional medicine. All these shows give citizens a lot of knowledge
about plant evolution and traditional Chinese medical science.
There are also three
wall newspapers respectively in palm garden, bamboo garden and cycad
garden. They introduce interesting plants and many botanical background
and are updated two or three time a year.
From
the middle of June to the end of September, 2000 a big environmental
education exhibition named as Globe Change with Our Serious Situation
was held in the garden. About 6000 persons , especially lot of pupils
and middle school students, visited it.

A friendly relationship has been established
between the garden and Shenzhen Economic Daily. A supplement of Shenzhen
Evening News has been opened up and called as Fairy Lake Supplement,
after the name of the garden.
Many articles to introduce plants are often published in the newspaper.
And some competitions about botanical knowledge are also often held
by aid of the newspaper. Some excellent works and scenery photographs
are chosen to issue. Such activities attracts thousands of citizens
to take part in, even more millions of people perhaps could read
such essays.
Every year the garden takes part in Shenzhen Spring Festival
Flowers Show during the period of Chinese traditional new year.
Different themes are selected and various of flowers and plants
are scenically set from year to year.
In September, 1998
the garden attended the national network of MAB ( Mankind and Biosphare).
On December 18-22, 2000 the garden held a National Conference about
Public Environmental Education on Reserve Area of Biosphare. More
than 90 professors, scientists, and leaders and so on from university,
museum , refuge area of the country took the meeting. |
