Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, Shenzhen & Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is located in LuoHu district of Shenzhen, with Wutong Mountain’s highest peak standing in the east, and the Shenzhen reservoir in the west, covering an area of 588 hectares. The Botanical Garden and scenic area was constructed in 1983 and opened to the public in 1988, which has incorporates scientific research, science popularization, and tourism. The mission of the garden is to allow the public to experience the beauty of plants as well as the landscape, develop and spread botanical knowledge, and preserve plant diversity. The garden has achieved a good reputation for its activities and is known as a rising star in Asian botanic gardens. The garden is rated as a national AAAA (the Chinese evaluation standard for tourist attractions; the highest score possible is AAAAA) scenic spot and attracted more than two million visitors every year.
The Garden has more than twelve themed Gardens, including the Magnolia Garden, the Rare and Endangered Trees Garden, the Palm Garden,the Bamboos Garden,the Shady Plants Garden,the Desert Plant Area,the Aquatic Plants Garden, the Cryptogamic Garden,the Gymnosperms Garden,the Bonsai Garden,the Butterfly and Orchid Valley,the Situ conservation centers, and so on.
