Palm Garden

The Palm Garden was founded in 1986, and is located in the east coast of Fairy Lake, covering an area of about 30,000 square meters. The park is home to more than 10,000 square meters of landscape to the central area. The area gives a tropical feel with what feels to be calming sea breeze from the lake, combined with the pleasing visuals of fresh and ripened coconuts, attracting many visitors to the area. Since its establishment, it has repeatedly introduced various seeds from the South China Botanical Garden, Xiamen Botanical Garden, Xishuangbanna Botanical Garden, Guilin Botanical Garden, the Guangzhou Fangcun, Huadu, Zhongshan areas, and other places as well. Through seed exchanges between the United States, Germany, and Taiwan, and Hainan and Kunming, the garden is able to receive an abundance of seeds. Since its introduction, the Botanical Garden collected palm plants of 60 genera and 150 species native to tropical Asia, the Americas, Oceania, Africa, the Pacific Islands, and China, and was able to build an appropriately sized and characteristic garden to house them. The Botanical Gardens’ palm plants collected were among the more common king coconut, betel leave, San Weikui, fan palm, three drug areca, and also many peculiarly shaped trees. They have also collected highly ornamental species, such as wine bottle coconuts, coconut sticks, triangle coconuts, red triangle coconuts, Bayeux palm flower, Red vein flowers, King brown palms, Foxtail palms, Manila coconuts, Leaf Axils palm, Elephant trunk palm, etc. Some still important economic crops such as coconut, oil palm, coconut and some sugar Calamus species come from these areas. In addition, there are some originating in China, which have high scientific value, as being national rare and endangered species, such as the Joan brown palm, Joan brown dwarf palm, Rock Hill brown hair floral axis palm, Trachycarpus palm, and so on.
