Taxonomy
The taxonomy and biodiversity of many insect groups, especially Diptera (Sphaeroceridae, Tephritidae, Rhagionidae, and Athericidae) from Asia and Pacific Region.

Phylogenetics and evolution
Phylogenetic relationships among major groups of Sphaeroceridae from China, and specific phylogeny of selected taxa of Sphaeroceridae from Australia and New Zealand.

Plant Protection
The integrated identification of common nursery and landscape pests using digital keys and DNA Barcoding; ecology and management of invasive insects and plants.
