Aquatic Macrophyte Zone

Aquatic Macrophyte Zone, covering a land area of 0.3 hectare and constructed since 1983, is located at west end of Fairylake. It is divided into two parts: aquatic macrophyte exhibition area and aquatic macrophyte propagation area providing hydrophily flowers for the water area in Fairylake to promote the value of viewing.

Aquatic macrophyte exhibition area, (in another name, waterscape garden), covers a land area roughly 0.3 hectare composed of pavilion, platform and viewing aquatic macrophyte including emergent macrophyte, Free-floating macrophyte, submersed macrophyte, and floating-leaved macrophyte. Along with the change of seasons, the waterscape garden reveals the different sceneries. In summer, it is mainly to view lotus on water surface including red lotus, white lotus and versicolor lotus. Water lilies decorate the lake water and dance along waves in breeze in summer. It’s really wonderful.

Aquatic macrophyte propagation area is the cultivation and R&D base for aquatic macrophyte. There are 400 lotus ponds, 50 water lily ponds constructed in this area, and 41 families, 68 genera, and 400 species and breed aquatic macrophyte introduced from Wuhan, Guangzhou and Nanjing are conserved in this area. It is mainly to conserve nelumbo adans and nymphaeaceae plants including roughly 200 species of quality lotuses like Zhongshan Lotus, Big versicolor and Winter Red.
