On 29 December 2009, the“Museum-School Collaboration • Scientific Education” Forum, which was co-organized by Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, China Research Institute for Science Popularization, Shenzhen Science and Technology Association and Luohu Science and Technology Association, was held at our Garden. A total of about 70 representatives from institutes, public science bases and schools attended the Forum. Deputy President of China Research Institute for Science Popularization Yao Yixian and Deputy Chairman of Shenzhen Science and Technology Association Zhang Keke were present at the Forum and make a speech, respectively.

The Forum was divided into two parts. In the morning, four experts from Beijing Natural History Museum, Beijing Elk Garden Museum and Shenzhen Municipal Museum made a keynote speech respectively, and in the afternoon, a work exchange meeting was held among representatives from public science education bases and schools. PhD Jin Hong of our Garden made a speech themed on “Public Science Education of Botanical Garden” to have an exchange with the representatives. Deputy President of China Research Institute for Science Popularization Yao Yixian made a concluding speech of the Forum. He indicated that public science museums, public science bases and schools should make the most of resources available to strengthen exchange and cooperation when carrying out scientific education activities in the future, in a move to increase the scientific and cultural quality of students. This Forum was a big event for the science and technology field in Shenzhen, and its successful convening created a good external environment for the development of our Garden’s public science work and lay the foundation for our Garden to have further communications with schools and other public science bases.
