Shenzhen and CAS to co-built Fairy Lake Botanical Garden

On the morning of January 17, 2008, the opening ceremony of “Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden Chinese Academy of Sciences” was held at the Shenzhen municipal press conference hall. Vice President of Chinese Academy of Sciences Shi Erwei, Shenzhen Vice Mayor Lv Ruifeng, Director-General of Shenzhen Urban Management Bureau Wu Zijun and Director of Fairy Lake Botanical Garden co-chaired the opening ceremony, and related officials witnessed the historical moment, including Shenzhen Standing Vice Mayor Liu Yingli and Deputy Director-General of Shenzhen Urban Management Bureau Ye Guo.

On the morning of January 18 2008, a grand but brief opening ceremony for “Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden Chinese Academy of Sciences” was held at the Garden by Mr. Wu Zijun, Mr. Ye Guo, Mr. Li Yong, etc. The ceremony marked the beginning of the concrete implementation phase for Shenzhen Government and Chinese Academy of Sciences to co-build the Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, with the purpose of promoting the ex-situ conservation of plants, such as the collection, introduction and acclimatization of plants. They aimed to build Fairy Lake Botanical Garden into a comprehensive and multifunctional botanical garden featuring scientific research, public science and eco-tourism, becoming one of the important bases for botanical scientific research, ex-situ conservation and scientific demonstration.
