The 4th Seminar of BIONET “Ethical Management of Biology and Biomedical Research: China-Europe Cooperation” Held at Fairy Lake Botanical Garden

“Biological Sample Bank and Individual Genomics – Prospect and Challenges for China-Europe Cooperation”, the 4th Seminar of BIONET “Ethical Management of Biology and Biomedical Research: China-Europe Cooperation”, was Held at Fairy Lake Botanical Garden on the afternoon of April 28, and more than 60 experts from China and EU attended the Seminar.

The project, which is funded by EU Sixth Framework Program of EU and will last three years, planed to set up a common ethical framework for dialogue and exchanges in the areas of cooperation of life science and biomedicine between China and EU. The project has held three seminars in Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’an, respectively since it was initiated in 2006. The fourth seminar will be held in Shenzhen from April 26 to 30 2009, and Fairy Lake Botanical Garden will be one of the venues for the Seminar.

During the Seminar, President of Obstetrics and Gynecology Institute, School of Medicine in Shanghai Jiao Tong University Guo Sunwei and the French senior lecturer J.F Champollion and Toulouse, as well as the sociologist Pascal Ducournau delivered a speech respectively and had in-depth communications with attendees.

Led by PhD. Jin Hong, attendees visited Cycad Germplasm Conservation Center, Shady Plants Area and Paleology Museum
